Hello Blogophiliacs! I will be posting my weekly entries here on Blogger and Facebook while our writing group is trying to sort things out. For this week's topic, I got inspired by the action fantasy film Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World based on a Japanese manga graphic novel. The stuff here are inside jokes so it might not make sense to the reader who is unfamiliar with the story. I'll include a brief synopsis.
Scott Pilgrim is a 22 year old Canadian slacker who is a bass player for a garage band called the Sex Bob-omg. Living with his gay roomate Wallace Wells (who often seduces Scott's sister's boyfriends) and dating a teenage Chinese student named Knives Chau, his life is going nowhere. That all changes when he meets a delivery girl from Amazon.ca named Ramona Flowers and goes out of his way to be with her. It's your basic girl meets boy story except for one thing, Ramona's evil exes are in cahoots to destroy Scott and he must battle each of them so he can be with her. Add in some fantasy action sequences, indie rock music, and videogaming references and you're in for one hell of a ride! With that in mind, I created this poem. Enjoy!

Who is this girl with Purple Hair?
I, Scott Pilgrim, intend to find out.
This Amazon.ca messenger has me ensnared
Wanting to know what this hipster chick is all about.
But am I betraying my teenaged black haired dancer?
Knives Chau, my seventeen year old girlfriend?
Looking to my Sex Bob-omb bandmates for the answer
And seeing this Canadian slacker’s life reach a dead end.
Perhaps I should ask my gay roomate Wallace Wells
To dispense some wise advice
On second thought he seems disinterested I can tell
As he seduces my sister’s boyfriend twice.
Instread I’ll train myself in some videogame play
So I get a second life in combatant sparring
Preparing myself for the Judgment Day
For battling my foes is quite jarring.
To win the love of my new obsession
I must fight many sexes
To make Ramona Flowers my new possession
I must battle her seven evil exes.
It’s now Scott Pilgrim versus the world.
My moment has finally come in time.
Fighting for the love of a girl has made me unfurled,
I could use a bottle of tequila right now with a taste of lime!
